You’ve never been skiing before. This is your first time and you are excited. You’re also a little nervous because you’re not quite sure what you should do. You’ve got tons of questions. Where should you ski? What type of clothing should you wear?   Should you take lessons?

When selecting a ski resort, don’t choose the post popular one. Just because it’s the rage to go skiing there doesn’t mean that itwill be the best place for you.  You need to find a skiing resort that has a trail for beginners. Forget about skiing the black diamond runs! You need gentle sloping hills that are usually referred to as the bunny hills.

You don’t need to have expensive ski clothes just because everybody else has them.  You need to go skiing a couple of times to determine if this is a sport that you will continue participant in.  If you like it, THEN go ahead and get regular ski clothes.  Until then, just grab a turtleneck, a sweater, and some waterproof snow pants from your closet. Be sure you wear a hat and gloves, too, to help keep you warm.

Many ski resorts do not require a ski lift pass if you are skiing only on the bunny hills.  They usually have a rope tow that you can use for free.

You might have a friend that thinks he can teach you how to ski.  Thank him very kindly but gently tell him you will take a skiing lesson.  The ski instructor will teach you a solid, basic foundation of how to ski.  Make sure you take regular breaks during the day to rest to gather your strength.  Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Then, with a little practice, you’ll be able to hit the regular slopes.
